The Ascend Next Gen League in Greenville is a premier semi-contact kickboxing tournament designed to help aspiring fighters gain valuable experience before stepping into the ring for full-contact competition. This event provides a controlled yet competitive environment where athletes can sharpen their skills, develop fight IQ, and build confidence. - We will move them up in weight by one weight class
- We will move them up in age but keep them in the same weight

Weight Classes
Divisions are separated by 10-pound increments until the Heavyweight divisions:
- 101-110 lbs
- 111-120 lbs
- 121-130 lbs
- 131-140 lbs
- 141-150 lbs
- 151-160 lbs
- 161-170 lbs
- 171-180 lbs
- 181-190 lbs
- 191-200 lbs
- 201-220 lbs
- 221-260 lbs
- 260+ lbs
Match Duration
- Ages 5-14: Two rounds of 1:30 minutes
- Ages 15+: Two rounds of 2 minutes
- Break: 1-minute rest between rounds
Attire & Safety Rules
👕 Clothing: Competitors must wear a T-shirt and shorts.
⚠️ No Metal Objects: Jewelry, piercings, watches, or any accessories are strictly prohibited. Toenails must be trimmed to prevent injuries.
Required Equipment
🥊 Protective Gear (Mandatory for All Competitors):
- Headgear
- Mouthguard
- 16oz gloves
- Groin protector
- Shin guards (cloth shin guards are NOT allowed)
Coach Responsibilities
- Coaches must remain seated during the match and conduct themselves professionally.
- A coach has the authority to throw in the towel to stop the match.
Scoring Areas
✔️ Legal target areas include:
- Forehead, front, and side of the face
- Front and sides of the body above the waist
- Kicks to the inner and outer thigh (no strikes allowed to the knee)
- Knee strikes to the body
🦵 Clinching & Holding Rules:
- Fighters may hold their opponent’s leg but must execute one technique or take one step before releasing.
- Clinch is limited to 5 seconds if active; if stalled, the referee will break it.
⚠️ Contact Rules:
All techniques must be controlled and well-timed with light to moderate contact.
Prohibited Actions
🚫 Illegal Strikes & Conduct:
- Groin strikes
- Strikes to the back of the head
- Scratching, biting, spitting, or verbal attacks
- Striking after a referee calls “stop”
- Excessive force or heavy contact
- Running away or intentionally leaving the fighting area
- Falling down to waste time
Legal Techniques
✅ Allowed Strikes:
- All standard boxing techniques
- Front kicks
- Round kicks
- Hook kicks
- Crescent kicks
- Axe kicks
- Knees to the body
- Spinning kicks
- Jumping kicks (must be controlled)
🚫 Illegal Techniques:
- Palm strikes
- Hitting with the inside of the glove
- Spinning back fists
- Elbow strikes
- Throws
- Pushing with the arms
- Headbutts
- Any strike to the back of the head or spine
